St. Clement Young Adults are a group of Roman Catholic young
adults at St. Clement Eucharistic Shrine in Boston, MA. Gathering regularly for prayer, fellowship, community service, and outreach to other young adults in the Archdiocese of Boston, we come from all over the area. Many of us are students and young professionals. We are from all over the world and are single, married, or discerning religious life or the priesthood. Our love for God and each other is vibrant and contagious, and we are constantly welcoming new members. We are also affiliated with and supported by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (OMV), a Roman Catholic order of priests and brothers who promote a rebirth of spirituality in today's world. We collaborate with the Oblates and their seminarians on many projects. The current leadership team is looking for volunteers to take on leadership positions within the young adult community and organize opportunities for spiritual fellowship, volunteerism, and other activities for the community, in conjunction with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. There are four parts to the organization (Chairperson, Volunteer, Spiritual, Social) and we will be looking for people to take on the various roles. The nature of each position is changeable based on the needs of the SCYA community. All positions are ideally maintained for 1-2 years depending on someone’s availability and commitment. Each member of the leadership team is expected to provide input into future SCYA events and initiatives at monthly meetings, in collaboration with the Fr. Peter Grover, OMV or other Oblates of the Virgin Mary.

November 20, 2011 AFTER SUNDAY NIGHT MASS AT 9PM (will be held in the side parlor) November 21, 2011 AFTER MONDAY NIGHT GROUP at 8:15PM (will be held in the side parlor) St. Clement Young Adult Leadership Roles Currently the Executive Council is looking for volunteers to take on leadership positions within the young adult community. Chairperson: § This role will continue as it currently stands, as a facilitator. § Facilitate monthly meetings to determine next steps and new initiatives for YAG community. § Work closely with Oblates to determine their needs as a community that the YA group can help with. § Facilitate organization of activities and coordination of resources wherever necessary. § Manage SCYA Yahoo Group and scya_boston@yahoo.com email inbox: Respond to inquiries and comments regarding the St. Clements community from people who have questions about the YA community, are new to Boston, etc.
Monday Night Facilitator (currently Shane (not changing in 2011/2012): § Facilitate Monday Night Scripture discussion, encourage participation and bring people together for food and fellowship afterwards.
Social Chair: § Foster increased social interaction in the St. Clement Community by coordinating and publicizing regular events and also one-time social events in/around Boston that everyone in the community is invited to attend. § Monthly First Sunday Social
Spiritual Fellowship Coordinator: (this role will be taken on by Fr. Jeremy): § Works with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in hosting Day Retreats, usually one during Lent, one during Advent. Coordinate talks and spiritual reflection by Young Adult members of the community and by the Oblates, coordinate logistics. § Other past initiatives have also included Discussion group on Pope’s Encyclicals, Hot Topic Discussion Nights, Talks regarding vocations by Oblates or other religious communities, etc.
Service Outreach/Volunteer
Coordinator: § Maintain and strengthen relationships between St. Clement Young Adults and local shelters, and other service organizations dedicated to serving the needs of the poor and underprivileged. Volunteer Fairs: bi-annual event in Upper Room featuring several local volunteer organizations. § Organize groups for volunteer projects at local organizations. (ie. St. Francis House, Sancta Maria House, Gardening/Cleaning needs at St. Clement Shrine). § Organize Food Drive, Baby Item Drive, and other annual initiatives.
Website/Newsletter Developer:: § Develop our Young Adult website and calendar in order to make it a helpful resource for the YA community to see what events are happening locally and at St. Clements. Informal newsletter is currently in progress in the development stage.
Other Initiatives/Ideas for Events (These change depending on the interests of the community, and the local needs of various organizations.) Some opportunities and initiatives that have been offered in the past are: Baby Items Drive; Trivia Night; Sports -soccer, softball leagues, bowling, kickball, hiking, ski trips. Day trips to local places of interest; Hot Topic Nights: Provide a relevant, credible speaker to present and encourage discussion about some topic that impacts Catholic young adults today Gospel Brunch: Fundraiser for the Seminarian Scholarship Fund; Social events: fundraising nights for local charities, MFA sketching nights, movie nights, local Boston events.
